Sonography May Be the Way out

I have a really good friend who takes care of older folks that can’t take care of themselves anymore. They need help getting around their homes. So she does that and keeps them company, listens to their stories about where they lived, what their families were like, their history. You get the idea. She’s there as a companion. These people are sweet and very fragile and don’t want to be in nursing homes or hospice care. She’s even with them when they pass away. This job takes such a toll on her that she can’t take it when they leave this world; it hits her so personally it’s like losing her own mother over and over again. She’s been asking me what she could do to get into a different field but still in the medical area, and I told her about the sonographer salary that was possible. Then I was able to give her some basic information about what she would be doing as a sonographer, or ultrasound tech, and she seemed interested. I hope she really does follow through, because I don’t think she can take her present job for too much longer.
